Just a normal linux user thought of reviewing the Rosa desktop fresh distro.
ROSA Marathon is a Linux distribution derived from Mandriva Desktop 2011 and ROSA Desktop 2011. It is developed by ROSA Laboratory, a Linux solutions provider based in Moscow, Russia. The company publishes two lines of Linux distributions.There is ROSA Marathon and ROSA Desktop Fresh .

ROSA a distribution derived from Mandriva Linux, is on my list of recommended distributions for new users, particularly the KDE edition, which has features that you will not find in a mainstream KDE desktop and that it is “targeted at advanced users and enthusiasts who will appreciate rich functionality and freshness of distribution components without serious loss of quality n aesthetic".
There are two flavors of ROSA distro. There is a Free Edition, which does not ship with any non-free application, and an Extended Edition, which comes with all types of free and non-free applications. For each flavor, installation images are available for both 32- and 64-bit architectures .
Installation
Actually i installed Rosa desktop fresh kde on my dell inspiron n5050 laptop so couldn't take snap of installation but u can visit this to get more info on installation process .

Installation is just simple where some steps are required actually language,keyboard,geographic location and location to install distro alongwith root n user password. It took me around 20 minutes to install it on dell laptop .
Rosa background n it comes with kde 4.10.3.
Post installation process is required to keep the distro stuff updated. you can do it through update your system or install remove software centre .
It comes with an introduction document which can be seen as.
It has 2 launcher one is classical n other one plasma like which is default one.
It has an icon like window tab when u click on it you can see 4 virtual windows like this.
Rosa desktop fresh posses nice integration of configure desktop at one place which is not found in other kde distro.
you can search applications through software manager.
On youtube it just played videos as adobe flash pre-installed.
One issue i had with this linux distro as i visited indian site it may be related to indian users may be indian fonts are available in repos.when i visited this site it looked awkward.

Rosa desktop fresh comes with integrated cloud service known as Rosa 2safe.
Rosa desktop fresh is not a LTS (long term support) release and i guess that they had support for distro for 12 months then it would be nice but that i don't know actually how long fresh is supported couldn't find any info on their site.
Beauty n Aesthetic
Rosa desktop fresh r1 kde is heavily tweaked but u can get 2 Rosa panels which is Rosa launcher one classical n other feel like gnome 3 . As it kde it has lot of customization for folks who love customizing their os . It has great wallpapers n application icons are very pleasant n eye canding with Rosa theme only the thing that libreoffice splash screen doesn't acostum with default Rosa desktop theme as it can be seen here otherwise nice distro only some thing customized it would be fine .

Aesthetic looks with a beautiful Rosa analog clock widget .
Hardware integration
wifi , touchpad etc worked well within my use for week and seems it has well configured hardware integration .Nvidia drivers are available in repos and some external sources is required for nvidia to work through bumblebee ppa.
Actual performance of cpu while updating distro.
Performance wise it consumes more than 1gb ram actually nothing running in background .
When it detects pendrive or external hdd how it looks n recognize it.
Applications
Rosa desktop fresh comes with healthy application list as most of the commonly used apps preinstalled.
Application wise it is having healthy list ofcourse firefox browser preinstalled but if u need chromium or other browser it can be found in repos .Actually Rosa come with it own Rosa media player but i use smplayer or vlc which can be found in default repos.look how media plays in default media player.
The default email client available in Rosa desktop fresh is mozilla thunderbird.
It comes with multimedia n restricted codecs preinstalled as it played songs very well n amarok is default audio player.
Now how the Rosa theme for folders looks in dolphin file manager.
After screen lock how it looks .
Now how timeframe of Rosa plasma desktop launcher feels like.
TIME TO CONCLUSION
with its great artwork and aesthetic and modular remix of gnome like interface in kde distro , amazing performance it is nice distro to have alook at it .Just try it but one caution as it is not an lts and targeted to advanced user but then also just try n try if it works for u will feel in love with a beautiful distro.

hmmm kind of lame to me, without rosa developed tools is like any other kde based distro...but the rosa tools are another story... klook, romp, stackfolder ,abf-clients and so on ...
